In an effort to broaden our reach and provide assistance directly to local communities, the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers’ Charities launched the Youth Sports Sponsorship Program in 2014.
LATLC makes direct financial grants to organized youth sports and public school athletic programs in Los Angeles County. LATLC is proud to support everything from boys and girls baseball and soft ball leagues to soccer, football, cheer, dance,and even synchronized swimming. Since we began in 2014, we have provided grants to more than 125 groups for a total of $186,700.
LATLC grants, if awarded, are for the sum of $500.00. The funds may be used for any league expense, including but not limited to the purchase of equipment, team clothing, or help provide or maintain a location to play games. LATLC will also provide a banner.
How to Apply for the Program
Leagues and public schools must apply online. Organizations may only apply once in a calendar year. The application includes:
- The name and address of your league, organization or public school (individual teams may not apply);
- Address, phone, and email of contact person for your league or school sports program director;
- Provide the dates for opening day for your league or public school teams and the last day of your season.
- LATLC’s Youth Sports Sponsorship Committee will review the request. If further information is needed to make a decision regarding the awarding of a grant, we will contact you promptly. LATLC provides a specific budgeted amount for this program, and assuming our criteria is met and funds remain available for the calendar year, the applicant will be notified of the grant.

Buddy Ball and Special Needs Sports Organizations
Persons with disabilities is an important focus of LATLC’s mission. Since 2014, we have donated batting helmets, bats, and other equipment directly to Buddy Ball leagues serving exceptional children with special needs. In addition, LATLC has supported a special needs soccer team in Cederpines Park since 2018.

Pony United Equipment Replacement
In 2018 one of our board members saw a news story about the burglary at Pony United League in Pomona. Someone broke into their storage bin and stole ALL the baseball equipment –a total value of $11,000.This was the area that he grew up in and where his law office is located —and he knew how important these leagues are to kids. This was an underprivileged league that could not afford to replace all the equipment. He went to Los Angeles Trial Lawyers’ Charities, and our Youth Sports Program Committee unanimously decided to replace EVERYTHING –from gloves to tents!
