Joseph M. Barrett is considered one of the finest trial lawyers in California, and he is truly a Trial Lawyer for the People. Since 1989, Joe Barrett has made history in civil rights law, product liability law, especially with unstable and uncrashworthy vehicles, road design, bad faith insurance law, and negligence cases. Joe has been acclaimed by local and State trial bar organizations often through his career, nominated as Streetfighter of the Year and Trial Lawyer of the Year, and is recognized as one of a handful of lawyers who understand and effectively represent people with traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury (SCI), traumatic amputations, burns, and other serious injuries. Joe’s trial and settlement success has led to safer products, safer roads, safer commercial practices, more effective police practices, and helped families time and time again. Joe’s passion to change the world for the better, one case at a time, has led to Joe repeatedly being honored by his peers, feared by his foes, and respected by the judiciary for his ethics, efforts and leadership. Joseph M. Barrett served as CAALA President in 2015, which is the most influential trial bar in America. He has been elected to the CAOC Board of Governors for many years and is a statewide leader in the law, fighting for the people, effectively advocating and shaping our laws. Joe has tried over 50 jury trials to verdict in his career, and his talent and energy has led to tens of millions of dollars in justice. Joe is proud to be a long-standing member of ABOTA since 2002, the most exclusive and prestigious organization of trial lawyers in America. He is a Super Lawyer 2006-2017 and has been every year of eligibility, and he has served as a Blue Ribbon Member for that entity. Joe is asked to lecture and author legal works on trial practice, winning strategies, many times a year by major legal organizations. Joe served as President of Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Charities in 2011-2012. Joe also serves on the St. Thomas More Society of Los Angeles Executive Committee. In his private time, Joe spends time with his wonderful family, and also has played competitive baseball, hockey, basketball, and tennis to the present. Joe also participates actively in Catholic charities and other community organizations. He frequently helps raise funds and participates in urban activities to help eradicate homelessness, poverty, help children and the elderly, and make Los Angeles safer. “A working class hero is something to be,” John Lennon sang.
