Larry Grassini is one of the most respected and successful trial lawyers in the Western United States. He was twice recognized as “Trial Lawyer of the Year” by the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Association. On three occasions, Mr. Grassini was awarded “Trial Lawyer of the Year” by the most prominent jury reporting service. He was elected to the Inner Circle of Advocates as one of the top 100 plaintiff’s lawyers in the United States (and one of 9 from California). Larry is a Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers (which consists of the top 1% of trial lawyers in the United States and Canada). In 2008, he became the ninth living trial lawyer to be inducted into the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles Hall of Fame and, in 2011, became only the third plaintiff’s lawyer to be inducted into the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel’s Hall of Fame.

Mr. Grassini is one of only ten lawyers in Southern California, and the only one from the San Fernando Valley, included in the California State Bar Journal listing of “Most Respected Lawyers.” He is one of only two personal injury lawyers from the San Fernando Valley listed in The Best Lawyers in America (his law partner Roland Wrinkle being the other) and the only plaintiff’s lawyer ever to be featured in Verdict magazine, the California publication of insurance defense lawyers.

At the start of the new millennium, Larry, a lover of fine Bordeaux, decided to plant a vineyard on his ranch in Happy Canyon. He and his wife Sharon purchased the land back in the 1980s to serve as a family retreat, but in 2002, as vineyards started popping up in the surrounding hills, the couple realized they could create a living legacy for their family and began to planting grapevines. Planted in small blocks, spaced in six-by-three-foot rows the vines are adequately stressed to produce excellent quality grapes. The hilltop reserve blocks are planted even closer together. A special irrigation system protects the grapes from frost. The Grassinis ‘ capable daughter Katie manage the business, which allows Larry to maintain a big-picture point of view.

In less than five years, Grassini Family Vineyards has received numerous accolades, including being named “Best Winery” by readers of the Santa Barbara News-Press and “Best Santa Barbara County Red Wine Finalist” by the Santa Barbara Independent. Their winery has twice been nominated for Small Business of the Year by the Santa Barbara Chamber of Commerce, and their wines regularly receive scores of 90+ from notable publications such as Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, and countless blogs and other media.
