Robert H. Tourtelot is a graduate of the University of Santa Clara and a cum laude graduate of Hastings College of Law where he served as Issue Editor of Hastings Law Journal, was a member of the prestigious Order of the Coif scholastic society and of the Thurston Honor Society.

He began his career in entertainment law at the Los Angeles firm of O'Melveny & Myers, where he worked with major newspapers, radio stations, motion picture studios and producers, cable television operators and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

In 1971, he segued into litigation, opening his own practice on the Westside of Los Angeles, primarily representing plaintiffs in litigation matters and emphasizing personal injury, real estate and contract disputes. His real estate clients have included land developers, national affordable housing developers, and geothermal energy clients, in addition to individuals. His business and financial sector clients have included a lumber company, a national travel agency, a farm implement dealer, a home building center, a stock brokerage firm, an escrow company and a bank.

For over 40 years his practice has been concentrated on litigation, Bob has won numerous seven-figure settlements, judgments, and verdicts. In 2008, a jury in Chatsworth, California awarded his client nearly $16 million in a major personal injury case against the driver of a dump truck who was working for the City of Los Angeles, a case that garnered national and international media attention. Bob is a proud member of Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles.

Bob has been involved in state and local government for many years. In 1991, Governor Pete Wilson appointed him to his Judicial Selection Advisory Board, where he served the State of California for eight years assisting Governor Wilson in appointing Judges in Los Angeles County. From 1993-2001, Bob sat as a Commissioner on the California Horse Racing Board where, in 1999, he was elected Chairman of the Board. He has also been active within the Los Angeles Police Department, as a special reserve police officer and as a director of DARE America. Bob is licensed to practice law in California and Hawaii.
