Mike McLachlan

Mr. McLachlan graduated with honors from U.C. Berkeley and obtained his law degree from the University of Southern California, where he was elected to the Southern California Law Review. Prior to opening his own office in 2004, he worked at The Kick Law Firm in Los Angeles, where he handled large business, product liability and real estate cases, and Greenberg Glusker et al. in Century City, where he represented clients in a wide array of civil litigation and environmental matters.

With nineteen years of experience in civil litigation, Mr. McLachlan has successfully handled a wide range of jury trials and arbitrations in numerous state and federal courts across California and the United States. He handles civil litigation matters including business, real estate, class actions, consumer rights, medical insurance disputes, and personal injury disputes. Mr. McLachlan also serves as outside general counsel to several small and medium size California companies, performing transactional, consulting, and litigation support on a full range of issues.

Mr. McLachlan has a long history of handling complex litigation, and has tried or arbitrated numerous class actions. In 2008, in In Re Antelope Valley Groundwater Litigation, the Honorable Jack Komar appointed Mr. McLachlan as lead class counsel for thousands of Southern California homeowners suing numerous government agencies over groundwater rights worth in excess of a billion dollars. Mr. McLachlan has successfully litigated that matter for seven years, through three phases of trial, and continues to do so. Mr. McLachlan is also lead class counsel for nearly 10,000 emergency room physicians in Melamed v. Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, a large healthcare lawsuit pending in Los Angeles Superior Court which is set for trial in 2015. Mr. McLachlan has handled many employment class actions. Most recently, in 2014, he represented the social workers of Ventura County and obtained a judgment in excess of four million dollars against the County for unpaid overtime wages.

Mr. McLachlan has represented many property owners in inverse condemnation actions against government agencies for flooding and fire damage to residential and commercial properties. He has tried many personal injury, property, and business disputes to verdict in jury trials .

He is admitted to practice law in California, and various federal district and appellate courts through the United States. He is a long-time member of the Consumer Attorneys Association of California, the Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and other civic, charitable, and legal organizations. He is also Honorary Board Member and active participant in the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers' Charities. Mr. McLachlan has served for many years as a voluntary settlement conference officer for the Los Angeles Superior Court, and has mediated over 100 matters.

Mr. McLachlan has published a number of articles in legal publications, and speaks to professional groups on various legal topics.
