Janet R. Gusdorff Gusdorff Law, P.C. Bio

Janet Gusdorff took a non-traditional path to appellate law, receiving her bachelors degree with academic honors from the New England Conservatory of Music (Trumpet Performance). She then attended and received her juris doctorate in 2006 from Loyola Law School. While there, she served as a note and comment editor of the Loyola Law Review. Ms. Gusdorff also worked as judicial extern to magistrate judge, Hon. Jennifer T. Lum, of the United States District Court for the Central District of California. She also clerked at the plaintiff's litigation firm, Raymond Paul Johnson, A Law Corp., where she had the fortunate timing to review a pending appellate brief. She was hooked.

Fortunately, Ms. Gusdorff was able to immerse herself in the appellate process, first as a law clerk and then as an attorney, with Marilee Marshall & Associates, Inc. There, she exclusively worked on criminal appellate matters ranging from misdemeanors to murder. Seeking to expand her knowledge base and experience, in 2007, Ms. Gusdorff then joined the prestigious civil appellate boutique, Pine & Pine, where she focused exclusively on civil appeals and writs involving seven- and eight- figure judgments.

In 2014, Ms. Gusdorff decided to open her own firm to use and apply her knowledge and expertise in both criminal and civil appellate litigation.

The legal community has recognized Ms. Gusdorff's ethics and aptitude. Law & Politics has repeatedly named Janet Gusdorff a Southern California "Rising Star," an honor that is reserved for only 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state. Los Angeles Magazine included Ms. Gusdorff as one of the Top Women Attorneys in Southern California. Avvo has rated Ms. Gusdorff its highest rating, "Superb." Ms. Gusdorff has also earned Martindale-Hubbell's highest peer review rating, AV-Preeminent.

Ms. Gusdorff's professional associations and memberships include Consumer Attorneys Association of Los Angeles, through which she serves as a member of the Education Committee, and is an Associate Editor on the organization's monthly publication, The Advocate. Ms. Gusdorff is also active with the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Appellate Courts Section.
